By integrating EDSS and IIS into a single pane of glass, policy makers can gather insights on vaccine efficacy, vaccine breakthroughs, case rates, deaths by vaccination status, and other critical topics. But it’s about more than tracking trends in communicable diseases and managing vaccine preventable diseases: it’s about making sure that two vitally important systems can talk to each other to give public health organizations the information they need to develop policies to protect the public.

Two of the main approaches to leveraging data to improve outcomes are Immunization Information Systems (IIS) and Electronic Disease Surveillance Systems (EDSS), which often function in concert with each other to empower public health decision makers to develop effective policies to track and manage the spread of communicable illnesses.
